Drawing Habits at Contemporary Textile Studio Canada

A fantastic day of drawing today at the Drawing Habits workshop, run in collaboration with Ingrid Mida (Ryerson University, Torornto) at Contemporary Textile Studio Canada at 401 Richmond, Toronto. A great group of participants got stuck into drawing to scrutinise historic garments loaned by Ryerson University Fashion Research Collection. We did a range of drawing exercises building up to more sustained studies, developing hand eye coordination and training the eye to be attentive to details. In the afternoon we focussed on interpretation learning about how to read the clues in the fabric. This followed by a session on creative interpretation, building on demonstrations of drawing techniques and materials to develop the observational studies produced earlier in the day.
